His death was announced by president Adama Barrow on twitter
The sixty -five year old was appointed vice president of the West African country in 2022, having previously served as education minister.
He had left the country about three weeks ago to seek medical treatment even as his health status was been undisclosed prop to the trip.
The late Badara Alieu Joof, Gambian’s Vice President was 65 years until his death
Gambia’s President, Adama Barrow, disclosed the death of the country’s number two man in a tweet obtained by Africannewshub thus:
“Fellow #Gambians, it is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing away of my #VicePresident, His Excellency, Badara Alieu Joof. The sad event took place in India after a short illness. May Allah grant him Jannahtul Firdawsi,” President Barrow tweeted.
The late Vice President Mr Joof, previously served as Gambia’s Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology from 2017 to 2022.
