As part of its effort in creating a good working environment and better take home packages, Edo State acting chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Comr. Bernard Joman Egwekhide has commended the state Governor, Senator Monday Okpevbholo for his bold step in making sure that the state workers are adequately motivate with the approval of 13th Month Salary.
Comrade Joman said the Governor’s approach to issues since his inauguration as Governor of the state within one month in office, is a proof that Edo is truly rising again.
Senator Monday Okpebholo had approved the payment of the “13th month” salary for workers a few days ago.
The Governor also approved the policy of automatic employment for First Class graduates of Edo extraction from any university in Nigeria and abroad into the State civil service to boost the quality of manpower in the system.
According to the NLC acting Chairman said the Governor is doing this to serve as motivation for workers as hoping that they will put in their best for optimum delivery.
“On behalf of workers in Edo State, I want to appeal to the Governor to fully implement the 70,000 minimum wage just like his colleagues in other states are doing.
“You see, what the former governor did was a parting gift to workers, he never implemented it fully. He told us, we leaders of organized labour in the state. He knows that even if he approves, he will not be there in the office again to implement it. So, as organized labour, we are appealing to our Governor, Senator Monday Okpevbholo to fully implement the 70,000 minimum wage for us he added.
