A sizeable number of women and youths across 10 states in northern Nigeria have benefited from digital skills training organised by Niger Delta Initiative in collaboration with Women Our Voice Our Votes ( WOVOV).
The Chairperson & Chief Executive Officer of Niger Delta Initiative, Dr Akpoguma Okuoimose stated this while speaking with journalists at a two-day event in some northern states.
Dr. Okuoimose said the Niger Delta Initiative, is in partnership with STEM Africa and WOVOV Venture, officially commenced a digital skills training programme for young women across several centres in northern states.
According to the CEO, the initiative aims to equip participants with vital technological competencies that will open doors to future opportunities in the digital economy.
Dr. Okuoimose, reaffirmed her steadfast commitment to broadening access to quality digital education for young women. She emphasised that empowering them with practical technical skills is essential to building a more inclusive, resilient, and economically vibrant society.
She emphasised that Day 2 of the ongoing digital skills training in Kaduna State, as young women once again turned out in impressive numbers across the approved centres to deepen their knowledge in essential technology tools.
“In various centres, participants were captured in high-spirits as they continued hands-on sessions facilitated by experienced trainers”.
Dr. Okuoimose said the training, an initiative of the Niger Delta Initiative in collaboration with STEM Africa and WOVOV Venture, continued to equip the participants with the digital literacy required for emerging opportunities in today’s tech-driven world.
In one of the highlights of the day, Dr. Akpoguma Okuoimose reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to delivering inclusive and accessible digital education across Northern Nigeria.
The Niger Delta Initiative, in partnership with STEM Africa and WOVOV Venture, also launched its digital skills training programme for young women in Gombe State with several centres were activity and vibrant participants commenced their learning journey, gaining essential technological skills that will position them for opportunities in the fast-growing digital economy.
Reaffirming her steadfast commitment, Dr. Akpoguma Okuoimose, emphasized that expanding digital access for young women goes beyond a project, it is a transformative mission. She reiterated that empowering young women with practical, in-demand tech skills that will promote inclusivity and strengthen the economic foundation of communities nationwide.
She explained that the initiative took a bold step forward as it rolled out its digital skills training programme for young women in Kebbi State. Multiple centres came alive with energy as participants began their journey into the world of technology, learning the tools and competencies that will shape their place in the emerging digital economy.
Reiterating her unwavering vision, Dr. Okuoimose stressed that expanding digital access for young women is not just a programme goal but a transformative mission that equip young women with real, applicable tech skills to help foster a more inclusive society and strengthen the economic fabrics of communities across the country.
