Not less than eighty care giving homes in Edo state have been trained by a non-governmental organisation, SOS Children’s village Nigeria.
The three days capacity building was for proper implementation of the alternative care guidelines owing to the current nature surrounding children’s welfare globally.
According to the Chief Programme Officer, SOS children’s village Nigeria, Ayodeji Adelopo during the opening remark said, the NGO is kick starting the stakeholders campaign building training in selected communities in Oredo LGA of the state.
‘Edo State alternative care guidelines is a good working document and that is why we invited you here as people who have direct contact with these children and we need your unhindered evaluation.

‘For every case handled gently there would be a generation that will benefit from such because of the impact it will have on such. Every child matters and we must treat such with all sense of professionalism.
On her part, commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Eugenia Abdallah said the state government will form a task force for the continued guide and implementation of child rights laws to ensure maximum protection of children across the state.
She said the life of every child is important hence, the need to protect and ensure the welfare of the child is met to fit into the society.
The commissioner warned against any form of maltreatment of children by parents, guidance or caregiver, stressing that the state would not tolerate such acts of indiscipline by stakeholders.
