…Edo will reward Tinubu handsomely – Rector
The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has directed an immediate evaluation and upgrade of student hostel accommodations at the state-owned Polytechnic in Usen, Ovia South-West Local Government Area, to ensure improved living standards.
The directive was given on Friday during the commissioning of a 5-kilometre internal road constructed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) at the institution’s main campus.
Okpebholo also promised to donate two brand-new buses to the school to support its smooth operation.

“Two brand-new buses will be delivered to this school soon. I am also directing the Commissioner for Education to immediately commence evaluation of student hostel accommodations to ensure improved living standards,” the governor said.
Commending the NDDC project, he added, “What the NDDC has done here is more than what we imagined. This project is more than asphalt and concrete. You can see the connectivity with guaranteed safety and security. The opportunity here is for thousands of students and staff on this campus daily.”

He tied the development to the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging students to match the investment with discipline, focus, and excellence.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Hon. Sam Oboh, noted that the institution’s population had dwindled from over 10,000 students to about 3,000, and described the infrastructure boost as a catalyst to attract more students and rejuvenate campus life.
The Rector, Dr. Nosakhare Arodoye, expressed optimism that Edo residents across the state’s 192 political wards would support the president in the upcoming elections, emphasizing that the governor’s commitment to the school covers full course accreditation and staff welfare.
“The mandate of the governor concerning this school is clear. We are revitalising all aspects of this institution. Accreditation of courses is 100 per cent, staff welfare is paramount, and this is what the governor has demonstrated,” Arodoye said.
