
Nigeria’s Christian community is mourning the passing of Uma Ukpai, the evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, who died at the age of 80.
According to a statement released by his family, Ukpai passed away peacefully after a lifetime of dedicated service to God and humanity.
Fover six decades, he was known for his powerful preaching, passionate evangelism, and remarkable demonstrations of faith that touched millions across Nigeria and beyond. His ministry was marked by large-scale crusades, healing services, and an unwavering commitment to soul-winning.
He was regarded as a father of faith in Nigeria — a loving husband, devoted father, and mentor to many within and outside the church.
As tributes pour in from church leaders, public figures, and believers worldwide, many have described his passing as a “glorious transition” of a man who fought the good fight of faith and finished his race.
The family noted that details of his funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
Quoting Philippians 1:21, the statement concluded: “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
