Nigeria has recorded 1,035 confirmed cases of Lassa fever, with 252 deaths reported from the disease, according to the latest health figures released in the country.
The development has renewed concerns over the spread of the viral disease, particularly among young adults, who remain one of the groups most affected by the outbreak.
According to reports published on Thursday, September 3, 2026, 14 additional Lassa fever cases were recorded across four states, contributing to the country’s growing number of confirmed infections.

People between the ages of 21 and 30 have been identified as the age group with the highest number of reported cases, highlighting the continued impact of the disease on young Nigerians.
