The Federal Government has called on Nigerians to rally behind the country’s representative at the ongoing Miss World competition, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, popularly known as Soye, as voting for the international pageant enters its final hours.
The appeal was made by the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, ahead of the conclusion of the voting process at the 73rd Miss World Festival in Vietnam.
The government’s call is aimed at encouraging Nigerians to support the country’s representative as she competes for recognition on the international stage.
Soye’s participation in the competition has placed Nigeria among countries seeking representation and recognition at one of the world’s major beauty and cultural events.
The Miss World competition brings together representatives from different countries and provides a platform through which participants showcase aspects of their countries’ culture, identity and values.
The Federal Government’s intervention has also highlighted the role of international pageants in promoting Nigeria’s cultural image and creating opportunities for young Nigerians to represent the country globally.
Minister Musawa urged Nigerians to use the remaining voting period to support Soye, stressing the importance of national backing for the Nigerian contestant.
