The Chief Medical Director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, on Friday, October 2nd, 2026, led management staff on a condolence visit to the family of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome following the passing of his mother, Deaconess Angel Oyakhilome, at the age of 88.
Speaking during the condolence visit to the Oyakhilome’s family in Benin City, Prof. Ize-Iyamu stated that the transition of the family matriarch is heaven’s gain.
Prof. Ize-Iyamu eulogized the late Deaconess as a devout Christian and a woman of profound impact who lived a blessed life to a good old age.
The CMD signed the condolence register and presented a formal letter of condolence to the grieving family.
“Mama has gone to be with Jesus. She lived a good life. She lived to see her children and grandchildren. On behalf of the UBTH, please accept our condolences and extend our heartfelt condolences to Pastor Chris Oyakhilome. ” Prof. Ize-Iyamu said.
Receiving the UBTH delegation, the eldest daughter of the late Deaconess Angel Oyakhilome, Pastor B. Akhuemokhan, speaking through Pastor Henry Amenkhienan, expressed her appreciation for the visit.
The UBTH CMD was accompanied by the Director of Administration, UBTH, Jim Uwadiae Esq., Dr. Philip Osho, Deputy Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (Clinicals) , Prof. Dumebi Kayoma, Head Corporate Services UBTH, Mr. Abure Pedro , Head of Transport UBTH, Mr. Iyore Clement, among others.
The late Deaconess Angel Oyakhilome (fondly called “Big Mummy”), passed away at the age of 88.She was born on March 6, 1938, and passed away on the morning of Friday, September 25, 2026.
