A group under the ageis of Youth Collective for Sustainable Development (YCSD) has urged the newly sworn-in Edo State House of Assembly members to carry out needs assessment across the 24 constituencies to ascertain the needs of the people.
The group said the assessment would help in efficient budgeting, creation of small and medium enterprises and impactful representation.
According to the communique the group issued at the end of the first Representatives colloquium organized for the legislators in Benin City, the State capital.
The communique was endorsed on behalf of 240 citizens by Mr. Western Iyamu, Mr. Festus Ese and Justus Aidenagbon respectively
The resolution noted the “exposure and enhancement of Members-Elect and Constituents present to the concepts of Effective Legislation and Access to Resources for community and constituency development”.
According to the communique, the legislators present were task on the provision of education incentives; such as bursary, scholarships and other support including admission quota to Edo indigenes.
“Prevent all times hike in fees and charges at State Owned Tertiary Institution especially state owned Universities.
“Equitable distribution of infrastructures and development projects across the state
“Effective collaboration with CSOs and development partners for policy reformations and constituency development.
“Welfare packages for artisans and private sector workers especially in areas of work place accidents and labour laws violation”.
