All is now set in Edo State for the hosting of this year major cultural celebration this December with the Edo Carnival 2025 (Shinefest).
With the theme, ‘Illuminating Heritage, Celebrating Today,’ the week-long event aims to spotlight the state’s rich traditions while embracing modern creativity.
Organised by Peak Rendezvous Global Ltd. in collaboration with the Office of the Special Adviser on Protocol to the Edo State Governor, the festival kicks off with the Dreamalive Talent Quest on November 1. The talent hunt will scout emerging musicians across the state’s three senatorial zones, leading up to a performance at the carnival finale.
The festivities officially begin on December 14 with the Shine Beer Barn and Christmas Grotto in Benin City, offering comedy nights, themed tastings, and entertainment for residents and tourists.
From December 21 to 27, Edo will come alive with a variety of cultural showcases. Highlights include: Heritage Carnival, Cultural Fiesta and Food Festival, Shine Boat Regatta Through the Eyes of Edo Art Exhibition, Miss Shinefest Beauty and Fashion Night.
The festival wraps up on December 27 with the Grand Shine Concert featuring performances by Shalipopi, HammerBoi, and finalists from the talent quest. The evening will also see the crowning of Miss Shinefest and a fireworks display to close the celebration.
