Again two legislators dumps PDP in Edo
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers in the Edo State House of Assembly have dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers are Eugene Ojie Inegbeboh, the member representing Igueben constituency and Andrew Uzamere who represents Ovia II constituency.
The defection added to the PDP’s losses at the ninth Assembly, and significantly reduced the party’s legislators’ numerical strength at the ninth Assembly from initial 15 to four.
The state’s Chairman of the APC, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe received the legislators at the party’s secretariat on Friday in Benin City.
Tenebe said the defection was part of a growing political consciousness across Edo state, adding that it aligned with the party’s accountability, vision, and inclusive development.
The APC chair emphasised that there was no old or new membership in APC, noting: “We are one family. The same honour and expectations accorded to long-standing members are equally extended to you.”
He said, “Your coming is a reinforcement of what we stand for. We are welcoming two proven leaders whose experience will further enrich our party’s vision and grassroots reach.
“Let us All take today as a reminder that the strength of the APC lies not just in our numbers, but in our unity, our discipline and our shared belief in a better Edo.
“As a party, we urged all Edo citizens to continue to give our governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the full support and enabling environment he needs to implement his people-entered programs.”
Earlier, the defected lawmakers thanked the APC for the warm reception, and pledged to add value to the growth of the party.
