Senator Neda Imasuen, representing Edo South Senatorial District, has joined the global celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child, reaffirming his commitment to advancing education and gender equality.
In a statement, Senator Imasuen described the day as one to celebrate “the hard work and resilience of young girls in realising their rights, particularly the right to education.”
At a recent event organised by the lawmaker which brought together students, educators, and community leaders to discuss the challenges facing young girls and to promote initiatives that support their education and personal growth, resource packages were distributed to participating schools, providing essential learning materials to strengthen classroom engagement and inspire confidence among girls.
Senator Imasuen emphasised that empowering girls through education and opportunity remains central to his legislative agenda, noting that gender-responsive public services are key to sustainable community development.
“Every girl is a source of strength, hope and progress,” he said. “Empowering her through education, equality and opportunity is the true way to build a brighter future.”
The senator’s initiative underscores his ongoing efforts to create a safe and inclusive environment where every girl in Edo South can learn, lead, and thrive.
