The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) Edo State Chapter on Thursday, September 10th paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu to felicitate with her on her appointment and historic milestone as the first female to occupy the office.
During the visit, NANNM Edo State Chapter Chairman, Comrade Otaigbe Stella, accompanied by Comrade Julius Emasalumen, Comrade Esan Stella and Comrade Patrick Esangbedo, described the CMD as a goal-getter and a role model to many generations.
She solicited mutual collaboration with UBTH in the areas of sponsorship, training, and retraining of nurses to advance healthcare delivery in the hospital.
The Chief Medical Director of UBTH, Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, who received the NANNM members alongside her management team, expressed her gratitude for the visit.
The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) is a professional-cum trade union organization recognized by the Trade Unions (Amendment) Act of 2005.
It is a non-governmental and non-profit organization authorized to organize all professional nurses and midwives who are trained, registered and licensed to practice Nursing Profession at all the levels of healthcare delivery system, namely primary, secondary and tertiary both in public and private sectors in the country.
The visit served as a celebratory platform honouring Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, whose ascent to the helm marks the first time a woman has assumed the prestigious mantle of CMD at the tertiary health institution.
