The Delta state police command says it has arrested a suspected notorious cult leader named Samson Butcher who belongs to the black axe cult group.
He was said to have been arrested in the early hours of today by policemen attached to the B division in Warri, when he was on his way to gather his members to commemorate what they referred to as their freedom day code named 7/7 in the bushes of a community in Warri south local government area of Delta state known as Igbudu.
The 28-Year-old suspect who is also an ex-convict according to the state police commissioner Muhammed Ali was arrested with a fabricated British pistol in the early hours of Thursday when he was on his way to gather his members to celebrate their yearly August seventh initiation day, which also includes their committing various crimes such as rape and armed robbery.
The suspect, according to the police, has confessed to the crime, as the police promised to arrest other fleeing members of the Black Axe cult gang who fled when they heard the news of their arrested leader.
The Delta police commissioner had yesterday issued warning to members of the black axe who are preparing to gather to celebrate their yearly Thursday seventh of August sacrifice to be ready to face the full wrath of the law.
