The recent Edo governorship election has been a hot topic of discussion, with the APC candidate emerging as the winner. However, instead of accepting the results and following the proper channels to express their grievances, the PDP supporters have taken to the streets in protest under the guise of “mandate recovery protest.” This is nothing but a ploy to deceive the public and gain sympathy through lies, propaganda, and blackmail which is their stock in trade.
The APC, on the other hand, has shown maturity and respect for the electoral process by standing in solidarity with INEC and upholding the rule of law through the “mandate protection protest” . Their peaceful protests are a demonstration of their commitment to democracy and the sanctity of the electoral process. They are not resorting to underhanded tactics to manipulate public opinion but are instead focusing on due process to address any concerns they may have.

The PDP’s actions are not only deceitful but also a disservice to the democratic principles that our country stands for. By spreading lies and propaganda, they are undermining the credibility of the electoral process and sowing seeds of discord among the populace. Instead of resorting to such tactics, they should respect the outcome of the election and pursue legal avenues to address any grievances they may have.
It is important for all political parties to uphold the rule of law and respect the decisions of the electoral commission. The APC’s actions in standing by INEC and following the proper channels to address any concerns are commendable and should be emulated by all parties. We must not allow deceitful tactics to overshadow the democratic process and erode public trust in our institutions.

In conclusion, the APC’s actions in the aftermath of the Edo governorship election are a testament to their commitment to democracy and the rule of law. They have shown maturity and respect for the electoral process, while the PDP’s deceitful tactics only serve to undermine the credibility of our democratic institutions. It is time for all parties to put aside their differences and work together to strengthen our democracy for the betterment of all Nigerians.
