The Edo State Government has commenced moves to recover more than 70 acres of land connected to the abandoned Ikpoba Dam Hotel property in Benin City.
The development concerns the large property, which covers about 90 acres, and comes as the state government takes steps to address the status and future of the long-standing hotel site.
The Ikpoba Dam Hotel, located in Benin City, has remained an important reference point in discussions surrounding the development and use of the property. The latest move by the state government focuses on recovering the larger portion of the land and dealing with issues surrounding its ownership and utilisation.
The government’s action could pave the way for a fresh consideration of the property and its potential use, particularly as authorities continue to examine ways of making better use of government-linked assets and land within the state.
The move also places renewed attention on the Ikpoba Dam area and the economic value of the extensive property. With more than 70 acres involved, the land represents a sizeable asset within Benin City.
