A Benin High Court, Edo State presided over by Justice Geraldine Imadegbelo on Thursday sentenced two suspected human traffickers to different prison terms.
In charge No. B/6C/2016, Sandra Obasuyi, 29 who was docked by the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Person (NAPTIP) was found guilty on seven count charges and accordingly sentenced to 49 years while the second accused Evelyn Edoleyi, 28 bagged three years for each of the three count charges for a total of nine years imprisonment.
The two convicts who were first arraigned on March 29, 2016 were accused of trafficking two teenagers aged 15 and 18 while the third victim was aged 20.

The sentences are however to run concurrently as the first accused, Obasuyi who was convicted on seven count charges which carries seven years each will spend seven years in jail while Edoleyi, the second accused is to spend three years in prison.
The Benin Zonal Commander of NAPTIP, Mr Aganran Ganiu Alao hailed the conviction, noting that the case which was diligently prosecuted by the anti-human trafficking agency for eight years is aimed at sending a clear red signal to human traffickers.
Mr. Alao reiterated the determination of NAPTIP to checkmate the illicit activities of human traffickers who traffic little girls for prostitution in the zone.
