The President has accepted the resignation and expressed gratitude to the former minister for his service to the nation. The Presidency is expected to notify the Senate of a replacement before the end of the week.
Badaru, 63, a two-term governor of Jigawa State (2015–2023), was appointed Defence Minister on August 21, 2023. His departure comes at a critical moment, coinciding with President Tinubu’s recent declaration of a national security emergency.
