The Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) has declared the Edo State government in partnership with Edo sport commission as the host and sponsor of its Division 1 League, which will be sponsored by the Edo State Government
The participating teams and officials are expected to arrive at Benin City on Sunday July 14th 2024 to participate in the draw for the league, and the league will kick off proper on Monday July 15th to Friday July 19th at the Multi Purpose hall of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin City, The competition will serve as a promotion of winners to the Ardova Handball Premier League 2025.

The National Division One League is the second tier league wherein the champions and runners in the male and female categories respectively will gain promotion to play in the top tier Ardova Handball Premier League.
Teams expected to participate are those who were relegated in the Ardova Handball Premier League 2023 such as Bendel Dynamos Men team, Bayelsa Queens, Benue Queens, Police Machine Men team and others who are not participating in the Ardova Handball Premier League 2024.
