The Chairman, Edo State Consumer Protection Committee, CPC, have given a seven days ultimatum to those involve in the chain of sachet alcoholic distribution to urgently discard all there is under them.
Edo CPC boss, Mr Iyamu Osaro Culture made this known to newsmen in Benin City the state capital on Sunday in a press state.
According to him, we are using this statement to inform the general public, especially sellers, dealers, distributors and manufacturers of sachet gin that the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control – NAFDAC has banned the production, sale and consumption nationwide due to its danger to human health.

‘In line with this directive, NAFDAC has ordered a total mop-up, clampdown and withdrawal of all sachet gin from production centers and markets across the country.
He said sellers, dealers and manufacturers of sachet gin in Edo State should immediately withdraw and dispose of all Sachet Gin in their custody within seven days of this notice. And that failure to comply with this directive will attract penalties, seizure and prosecution in line with relevant laws.

‘Taskforce teams will commence full enforcement and evacuation of sachet gin from all markets, shops, motor parks and other sales points across the eighteen LGA of Edo State after the expiration of this seven days grace period.
