The senator representing Edo South senatorial district, Sen. Neda Imasuen has commenced the construction of Irokhin road linking Evbomede 1 and 2 and Iguiya communities in Orhionmwon local government area, Edo State.
He said the road construction became necessary, looking at the untold hardship the community dwellers encounter in their daily routine and moving farm produce cities for sale.
He said the road is expected to cover a stretch from Irokhin to Ogan communities which is over 3 kilometres.
According to him; the scope of the first phase beginning from Irokhin is almost 2km, about 1.9km but it is expected to stretch all the way to Ogan community, we are taking it from here to Ogan.
‘The reason is because of apparent neglect of our rural communities, our mandate is to bring commercial activities to our rural communities and discouraged rural urban migration, we will spread development to everywhere in Edo south.
‘This will help our farmers in bringing their produce to the cities where it would be sold eventually.
‘We will continue to do more to make sure that our rural populace has some measure of comfort and inclusion for easy communal relationships.
Sen Imasuen noted that the approved time for total completion of the road project is December, 2025 and appealed to the contractor for speeding and timely completion.
Reacting, the Oliha of Oheze clan, chief Amadin Nicholas Ekhator who could not hide the joy said the communities as beneficiaries are excited over the project.
‘We are very happy for this project, with this the senator is encouraging us to do more farming for more sales and improvement of our standard of living.
Also speaking, a former house of reps member, RT. Hon. Patrick Aisowieren applauded Sen. Imasuen.
‘This project is a massive one and is going to serve over three communities, Irokhin, Evbomede 1 and 2 and Iguiya. So we can only ask for more like Oliver twist. I’m appealing to the senator to continue to remember the people of Orhionmwon east and south constituencies and we will continue to support him.
