TVET institution does not hide or operate theoretically but by practical approaches and result solving pattern. One will wonder how China, Indian and other developed nations have been able to manipulate the global economic space in their favour over the years.

In Edo Poly, the appointment of Dr Arodoye has continue to push for pragmatic and practical approaches to how TVET education should be handled in a manner that is student result driving. This is because he believes in what can and should benefit the larger society and benefit mankind for the sole purpose of positioning Nigeria in the global community of technology and innovation, which is in line with the mandate of the current state government in Edo under the leadership of Governor Monday Okpevbolo.
His appointment as acting rector has since repositioned the entire Polytechnic, like the popular saying, when the righteous is on the throne, the people rejoice. This has been the reality since the coming on board of a globally recognised scholar, Dr Arodoye.
His quest for the realization of technical and vocational education is second to none. He believes this is the backbone of industrial and economic development of any progressive driven and deliberate nation especially in a developing nation like Nigeria.

The coming of RD as he is popularly called has captured the attention of Nigeria Research Education Network, NGREN to giving much more than is needed for research base retooling in Edo Poly as one of the rare beneficiary polytechnics in Nigeria despite the fact that NGREN is primarily for Universities.
One would wonder the recent massive turnaround both in training and infrastructural wise within the polytechnic. Then position of the current leadership is not just to continually operate as a tertiary institution but to the ivory tower that will soon become a reference point to all sundry within the African continent. Edo Poly is currently making effort to brining global interventionist institution that will support the current intervention from the tertiary education trust fund, TETFUND.

It is therefore correct to ask, is Okpebholo aware of the magical touch of Dr Arodoye how is turning things around in the only state tertiary institution in Edo South ? Arodoye is performing educational magic here in Edo State Polytechnic, Usen. Just few weeks ago, the Polytechnic welcome eminent globally recognised scholars from Ladoke Akitola University, who trained academic staff on international research and grant wining writing.
The present Rector has risen the bar far higher above what is expected and for such action to be visibly enough, it means that Arodoye is a born performer, leveraging on performance of past Rectors. Development appear inherent in him hence he has been able to replicate what he did as former head of economics department, University of Benin.
The birth of research and innovation strategic meeting, this is the first of its kind since the establishment of the Polytechnic by the former Governor of the state Chief Lucky Nasakhare Igbinedion.
The research clinic initiative is targeted in pushing Edo State Polytechnic becoming a research centre, research work is not done anyhow but with impact factors and clear focus that is geared towards delivery high impact for the betterment of the society and mankind.

Again, the sacred question, raises it’s head: is Akpako rescue aware of Dr Arodoye exploit in Edo Poly? Yes, Akpako should be aware by now. Hence the fulfilment of the popular saying that one good turn deserve another. The institution needs the present government attention more than ever. Akpako must compliment Arodoye effort by securing an all-round full accreditation for Edo Poly. ‘This clinic is focusing on Q1 research (first quarried, 25% top tiers) work that is human benefit for global development’.
For the first six months it became visible to the blind and loudly audible to the deaf that a purposeful and visionary leadership now reside the neighbourhood with practical approaches that redefined governance and administration. A new era of discipline, productivity, and institutional pride is now the talk within the Polytechnic.

Driven by a deep commitment to welfare and motivation, the administration rewards excellence and productivity, thereby fostering a renewed sense of dedication among staff and seriousness among students. A landmark achievement within this period is the swift and transparent conduct of staff promotion exercises. Staff are now promoted as at when due inline with Gov. Okpevbolo zero tolerance to promotion arrears.

As a known register researcher with over ten thousand citations, the Rector has established several strategic directorates, including the Directorate of Research and Development and Directorate of Quality Assurance among others.
The Polytechnic has also witnessed significant infrastructural advancement under his leadership.
Notably, the construction and commissioning of a five-kilometre internal road network. This development has not only improved accessibility within the campus and also attracted notable personalities from within and outside the state, further elevating the institution’s profile.
